Why Factory-Direct Bakery Equipment Lowers Your Cost

Distributor markup is not the only cost of going through a reseller — it is just the most visible one. Buying factory-direct also gives you one accountable contact, faster spare parts, configuration flexibility and a clean documentation trail.

The markup chain you do not see

Industrial bakery equipment in the Americas typically reaches the buyer after two or three margin layers: factory → importer → regional distributor → local rep. Each layer prices its risk, inventory and after-sales obligation into the machine. The result is usually a 30–55% gap between the same factory-built mixer sold direct vs. sold through a three-step channel.

Factory-direct removes those layers. You pay for the machine, freight, commissioning and after-sales support — nothing else.

Five things you actually buy from a distributor

It is fair to ask: distributors exist for a reason. What are you giving up by buying direct? Five things, and how Dirmak handles each:

  • Local inventory — distributors often stock common machines. Trade-off: their stocked models are usually the popular ones, not the configuration you actually want. Our factory builds to your spec, with 4–8 week lead times.
  • Local language sales support — Dirmak's Americas sales operates in English, Spanish and Portuguese. Same hours as your bakery, not Turkish business hours.
  • Installation — Dirmak provides remote commissioning support and works with your local rigger or electrician. For larger projects we send a factory technician.
  • Spare parts speed — common wear parts ship from İzmir within 48 hours of order; critical parts can air-freight. Most customers carry a year-1 spares kit, which we quote with the machine.
  • Warranty handling — direct from the factory, no "escalate to the importer" loop.

One accountable point of contact

The most underrated benefit of factory-direct is not the price — it is the call list. When something needs attention (a control board, a gasket, a question about a spec), you have one number. The person on the other end can answer for engineering, manufacturing, spare parts and warranty in a single conversation.

Through a three-step channel, the same question becomes a chain of forwarded emails. Most of our customers cite this as the reason they bought direct the second time around.

Configuration flexibility

Distributors stock standard configurations. They have to — inventory cost is real. Factory-direct buys you access to every option list: -VE vs -VEL, -DC twin tool, CR stainless body, 7" vs 12" touchscreen, jacketed bowl, CIP, voltage configuration. Some of these are no-cost choices at order; many are impossible to add later.

This matters most for plants where the machine will run a specific product mix. A standard configuration is rarely optimal for any one user.

Documentation that audits cleanly

Direct purchase means you receive: the factory test report, the certificate of conformity, the bill of materials, the wiring diagram, the spare-parts list and the manual — all in your buying language, signed by the manufacturer, not by an intermediary.

For plants under SQF, BRC, FSSC 22000 or NSF audits, the documentation trail is part of the value, not paperwork. Auditors prefer original manufacturer documents.

What you should still expect

Factory-direct does not mean cheap, and it does not mean unsupported. It means you pay for what the machine actually costs, with a clear after-sales chain. Expect:

  • A real quote within one business day of receiving your spec.
  • Lead times of 4–8 weeks for standard configurations, longer for fully custom builds.
  • Sea freight is typical for the Americas; air freight is available at premium for spares.
  • Commissioning is supported remotely as standard, on-site for plant-scale or DC flagship orders.
  • A named contact who stays with your account through year 1 and beyond.

Frequently asked questions

How much does factory-direct actually save vs a US distributor?

It varies by configuration, but most of our customers in the Americas see 30–55% savings on the same machine spec, before considering ongoing parts and service margin.

Who handles the import paperwork?

Dirmak ships FCA or FOB from İzmir; most customers use a freight forwarder for ocean transit and US customs clearance. We can recommend forwarders who handle bakery equipment regularly.

What about warranty if I bought directly?

Warranty is direct from the factory. No "contact the importer" loop. We process claims in your business hours via your named account contact.

Can a local rigger install the machine?

Yes. We provide commissioning documentation and remote support. For DC flagship or plant-scale orders, a factory technician is included or available.

Are spare parts truly available in the Americas?

Common wear parts ship from İzmir within 48 hours; critical parts can air-freight. Most customers buy a year-1 spares kit at order, which avoids any future lead-time risk.

Is Dirmak certified?

Yes — CE, UKCA and EAC. AISI 304 stainless food-contact construction throughout. UL certification is pending. Documentation ships with every order.
